ABSTRACT

The widely used suffixes are dmr stands for a development milestone release. MySQL development applies a milestone model, in which each milestone has a small subset of thoroughly tested features. The absence of a suffix means you are looking at a GA or Production release. GA releases are stable, having successfully passed through the earlier release stages, and are believed to be relatively clean from serious bugs, and perfect for use in production plans. The post-installation setup process only includes setting distribution ownership and access permissions, initializing the data directory, and starting the MySQL server. The source distribution format has all the code and support files for producing the executables using the Visual Studio compiler system. The product catalog is used to store the complete list of released MySQL items for Microsoft Windows that are available to download from MySQL Downloads.
