ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the role of human factors in the context of energy generation and transmission. The role of human error and accident causation and analysis is considered in the context of nuclear energy as this has been an area of significant interest and research. Hazards associated with nuclear energy are also examined, together with hazard identification and the capacity to predict changes in human behaviour in these types of high-risk, high-consequence organisational environments. The implications for management initiatives are also considered.
