ABSTRACT

Medical errors can be defined as any intentional or unintentional errors or problems that occur during the patient care process. Medical errors can occur in any healthcare setting, including hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, and nursing homes, among others. Medical errors can lead to serious consequences, such as prolonged hospitalization, disability, or even death. Medical errors are a significant public health concern, and they can result from a variety of factors, including miscommunication among healthcare providers, inadequate training or supervision, lack of access to patient information, and system-level issues such as poorly designed medical equipment or insufficient staffing. This chapter covers medical errors and related problems, the facilitators, barriers, prevention, and recommendations for best practices in developing countries.
