ABSTRACT

Nutrition support is the provision of nutrients to individuals who are unable to meet their nutritional needs through oral intake or who have a clinical condition that requires additional nutritional support. Nutrition support can be provided through various methods, including enteral nutrition (feeding through a tube that goes into the stomach or small intestine) and parenteral nutrition (feeding through a vein). The goal of nutrition support is to prevent malnutrition, promote healing, and improve clinical outcomes. Nutrition errors and related problems can have significant negative impacts on a patient's health and well-being. This chapter covers nutrition errors and related problems, prevention, and recommendations for best practices in developing countries.
