ABSTRACT

Internal medicine (IM) is a medical specialty that focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians who specialize in IM are called internists, or sometimes simply “doctors.” Internists provide comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of health conditions, including chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease, as well as acute illnesses and infections. Preventing IM errors and related problems is an important aspect of ensuring patient safety and improving healthcare outcomes. This chapter aims to describe the IM safety issues, prevention, challenges, and recommendations for the best practice in developing countries.
