ABSTRACT

Hospital-Acquired Infections (HAIs) are a significant problem in healthcare facilities and can result in increased morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. This chapter presents case studies of three common types of HAIs: Hospital-Acquired Pneumonia (HAP), Hospital-Acquired Urinary Tract Infections, and Hospital-Acquired Infections at surgical sites. The cases highlight the importance of prompt diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and infection control measures to prevent the spread of HAIs and improve patient outcomes. Prevention strategies, including proper hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment, and disinfection of hospital surfaces, are also discussed. The chapter emphasizes the importance of healthcare providers’ adherence to infection control protocols and regular monitoring of patients to prevent the recurrence of HAIs. Healthcare providers must continue to implement effective measures to prevent and control HAIs to ensure patient safety and well-being.
