ABSTRACT

Laboratory medicine errors and radiology errors are common in healthcare settings and can have serious consequences for patient safety. Laboratory medicine errors can include mistakes in sample collection, labeling, processing, interpretation, and reporting of laboratory results. Radiology errors can include misinterpretation of images, failure to detect abnormalities, and incorrect reporting of findings. Case studies have demonstrated the impact of laboratory medicine errors and radiology errors on patient outcomes. To reduce the incidence of laboratory medicine and radiology errors, healthcare providers can implement various strategies such as using barcode systems for sample labeling, double-checking results before reporting, and providing ongoing education and training for staff. In addition, implementing systems for reporting and analyzing errors can help identify and address underlying causes of errors, leading to improvements in patient safety. This chapter aims to present cases about the laboratory medicines and radiology errors.
