ABSTRACT

Patient safety is a critical aspect of healthcare, and it is especially important for special populations such as pregnant women, lactating mothers, geriatrics, paediatrics, and adolescents. These populations have unique needs and vulnerabilities that require specialized care to ensure their safety and well-being. Patient safety case studies are an essential tool for improving healthcare quality and safety. They provide a detailed analysis of a specific patient safety incident or event, which can help identify the root causes, contributing factors, and possible solutions to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. The aim of this chapter is to present real cases of special population care errors and problems, which could help medical and health students, identify the root causes, contributing factors, and possible solutions to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
