ABSTRACT
The strategies and different methods of solid waste management are discussed in this chapter. The interrelationship between the functional elements of solid waste management is detailed. Landfilling and composting as common methods for the disposal of solid waste are explained and their designs are demonstrated using solved numerical examples. The status of solid waste management in India is critically evaluated.
