ABSTRACT
In this chapter, a general overview of applications of polymer composites in green construction has been presented. It has been demonstrated why green polymer composites are rapidly finding their applications in the construction industry. The utilization of green polymer composites over conventional construction materials is a way of enhancing the environment and economic sustainability. Such benefit includes reduction of emissions from greenhouse gases, the reduction of demand on scarce resources, safety improvement, facilitating structures resilience, and promoting the adoption of modern construction practices. Additionally, rehabilitation of structures and buildings has been discussed, and it is in no doubt that green polymer composites are of great use in repairing damaged structures and buildings. In the area of green polymer composites, the research fraternity is currently very engaged in making further material improvements and major advances are expected in the near future.
