ABSTRACT

Nordic animation studios compete in size and speed of adopting new tools and trends. Making firstly rough and edgy animation, commissioned by pop bands like Radiohead or by Comedy Central and other US channels, Swedish studio Happy Life Animation grew big first. Still, it could not adopt in becoming the mainstream tool of 3D animation.

The Finnish Anima Vitae followed the digital development first practiced with some talent by Danish A. Film and has another story to tell with guys mastering Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) into virtuosity. Anima’s pipeline has been exported to Malaysia, where the company’s sister studio has served both Eastern and Western animation productions. The tiny nation Iceland had two animation studios, Caoz and GunHil, along with a strong history of 2,000 years of sagas.
