ABSTRACT
While the family of lifetime distributions with an MRL linear function of time possesses interesting properties, as shown in Chapter 3, and includes interesting special cases, it is clearly not representative of all the TTF distributions that may be encountered.
However, it will be shown here that the results of Chapter 3 can be generalized to distributions for which the MRL is a piecewise-linear function of time. Thereby the generality of the results is considerably extended, since any continuous function can be approximated by a piecewise-linear function.
