ABSTRACT
In previous chapters, the time transformation has been applied to probability distributions characterized by a single failure mode. In practice, competing failure modes often occur.
In this chapter, distributions with competing failure modes are considered. The subject is illustrated on a generic special case with two concurrent failure modes, which are, respectively:
(i) a constant failure rate (exponential time-to-failure distribution) and (ii) a deterministic lifetime (Dirac time-to-failure distribution).
