ABSTRACT

While additive depletion may seem to be one of the unheard forms of degradation, it still exists. In this chapter, the reader will become familiar with the process of additive depletion, verifying its occurrence through lab tests and preventing its occurrence in the future. The logic tree associated with additive depletion revolves highly around less than adequate operating conditions. While these are explored in the logic tree, the concept of contamination has been purposely left out as this will be discussed in the next chapter in great detail. It is the aim of this chapter to acquaint the reader with the various roots which may be present for the degradation mechanism of additive depletion.
