ABSTRACT

Climate is defined as the weather conditions prevailing in an area in general or over a long period. It is asserted in this chapter that the bodies of climate science together with observable changes already occurring in planet Earth signal climate change as the greatest current threat to much of life on our globe. Discussed in this chapter are the current consequences of increased temperature global ambient air, the nature and source of greenhouse gases, causal relationships between the use of fossil fuels and climate change, international and domestic policies purposed for climate change mitigation, and policies of three U.S. federal administrations: Obama, Trump, and Biden. Also discussed are issues of social justice and the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on climate change issues.
