ABSTRACT

If mistakes are being made, the first step is to recognize them and the second step is to correct them. This requires a society made up of critical thinkers who don’t allow the imposition of false ideologies. Critical thinking is a skill that should be given emphasis in the education system. Where it is lacking shows up in wide acceptance of false beliefs such as dangerous global warming and lockdowns to counter the coronavirus epidemic. An example of how critical thinking is needed in the climate debate is illustrated by a comparison between CLINTEL, an association of credible scientists, and the “Alliance of World Scientists”, a group with no authenticity. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is an organization that has influenced greatly public opinion on climate change. Although its declarations have been presented as “the science”, it is argued that its approach is not scientific. The policies adopted by governments should utilize much more public discussion and not be left in the hands of individual bureaucrats. It is fortunate that there are members of the Australian parliament with a knowledge of science such as Senator Roberts.
