ABSTRACT

This chapter records 43 species “wrongly” reported (in the authors' opinion) from the Sinai. This implies that this chapter lists both, subjective and objective errors. The incorrect and doubtful errors often result from: a) Identification errors. This seems to be the case with Adesmia cancellata cancellata and Erodius servillei; b) The use of non-existing names (this seems to be the case with Adesmia gracilis); c) A disagreement about the taxonomy (e.g. Adesmia metallica metallica, A. metallica syriaca) up to taxonomic confusion (e.g. see Adesmia metallica metallica, A. tenebrosa), d) An inadequate description and loss of type specimens (Crypticus subpunctatus and Gonocephalum tomentosum) and e) Mistakes in species distribution (e.g. Mesostena nabathaea).
