ABSTRACT

This section addresses and lists the experiences and lessons learned from the coating of piping, valves and actuators in offshore projects, including both topside and subsea. Approximately 25 case studies and lessons learned regarding the coating of piping, flanges, valves and actuators are covered in this chapter. Corrosion severity due to lack of coating after a short period of time is discussed in one of the cases. Other experiences include no coating requirement for titanium and nickel aluminum bronze valves, coating standardization, valves color coding in firefighting system, usage of fire nuts to prevent coating, challenges with coating measurement on duplex and super duplex body valves, no coating on the flange face, bolt holes and nut-bearing areas, clamp coating selection, etc.
