ABSTRACT

Training and development is an essential branch of successful management systems for sustaining the improvements and establishing continuous improvements. Training is not limited to Productivity alone, but it covers Safety at work, Personnel motivation, and Personnel development. Organizations which are conscious of the role of training invest their focused time bound plans with a flexible budget. Money invested on training and development of employees will certainly pay back if one needs to deal with it commercially. During this period of Industrial revolution Taylor explained the theory of “Scientific Management”. He explained about the importance of training for high productivity, low accident rate, low wastage, and maximization of profit. Standards for training the Shop floor operatives in critical departments and also the evaluation criteria also have been explained in a scientific manner with structured formats. Part Analysis Training (PAT), which is a disciplined system of teaching the employees “skills” compared to conventional “unsystematic training has been explained.

Management development programme has been explained in detail. Over and above, HPT Concept, which is a set of methods and processes for solving problems or realizing the opportunities related to the performance of the people has also been covered.
