ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an introduction to the origins and principles of Emergent Design. In particular, it focuses on how an emergent design approach resolves the ambiguities associated with designing and implementing a sociotechnical capability in an organisation. The utility of the approach is illustrated via a case study from the lead author’s experience.
