ABSTRACT

If we are a simulacrum, derivative of the physical world, what are we an imitation of ? Perhaps the cell is a sphere because like Joseph Bekenstein's realization that the total energy of a Black Hole is its surface area, not its volume, its event horizon is best expressed as a sphere, its energy being localized to the surface. It is proposed that the cell should also be seen as a surface phenomenon from the perspective of the observer (the Cosmos), the cell having 'invented' itself by assembling lipid molecules as the micelle in equal and opposite reaction to the force of gravity. Therefore, seen from its origin, the oxygenation property of the cell is in service to its spherical nature, not the other way around.
