ABSTRACT

Changes in temperature and rainfall pattern together with frequent occurrence of extreme weather events are major anticipated threats from the climate change that occurs now around the world. For managing drought and flood weather codes in agriculture, the information’s from long range weather forecast or seasonal climate forecast are to be considered. Since normal seasonal rainfall is anticipated based on the long-range weather forecast, farmers can go with their existing plan of crop and animal managements, by taking weather-based farm decisions especially for medium range weather forecast and short-range weather forecast information. Contingency plan is a process that prepares action plan to respond coherently to aberrant weather situation like drought or flood or to prepare agricultural plan to an emergency situation to sustain productivity. Weather-based farm decisions are defined as altering the proposed farm operations/decisions to reduce climate and weather-related risks based on weather forecast information received.
