ABSTRACT

Climate change is a broad term of global negative phenomena as created predominantly by burning of fossil fuels, which add heat-trapping gases to earth’s atmosphere. The earth’s climate continuously changes following a natural process. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was created to provide policymakers with regular scientific assessments on climate change, its implications and potential future risks, as well as to put forward adaptation and mitigation options. One of the uses of the Special Report on Emissions Scenarios scenarios is to project future changes in climate, e.g., changes in global mean temperature. Normal annual rainfall was studied grid wise with data from 183 points that covered the entire State of Tamil Nadu. Climate change will most likely result in new combinations of soil, atmospheric constituents, solar radiation, and pests, diseases, and weeds. Climate change will shrink the resources of freshwater. Crop pest interactions will change significantly with climate change leading to impact on pest distribution and crop losses.
