ABSTRACT

Chapter 9 describes how big data, analysis tools and models can improve pricing and access management schemes for freight vehicles in urban areas. Descriptive analytics procedures presented include monitoring the usage of loading bays and loading docks. Prescriptive analytics methods including models developed for optimising the number of bays in loading docks and on-street as well as toll levels for trucks are described. This chapter highlights how analytical procedures can determine the best toll levels for urban freight vehicles as well as identify optimal road pricing schemes.
