ABSTRACT

Chapter 2 presents methods for data collection and analysis for city logistics. It addresses data collection using IoT (Internet of Things), ICT (Information and Communication Technologies), and ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems), including VICS (Vehicle Identification and Communication Systems) and probe data. It discusses the big data analyses in urban freight transport based on these data. Data sharing with the public sector and private companies is also discussed based on experiences in the Netherlands, Japan, France, Australia, the UK, and Sweden. Blockchain technology is discussed in terms of building trust for data sharing among stakeholders.
