ABSTRACT

Chapter 7 presents a range of analytics methods that can be used for evaluating options to improve the sustainability of urban freight systems. Financial analysis, multi-criteria assessment, and multi-objective optimisation problems are covered. Applications are described for a range of City Logistics initiatives, including collaborative freight networks, electric freight vehicles, urban consolidation centres, and road tolls. This chapter describes techniques that can be used to highlight the trade-offs in the predicted performance of urban freight options and illustrate how sensitive these are to key assumptions within models. Procedures for illustrating the effects of options for multiple stakeholders with different objectives are presented.
