ABSTRACT
This chapter goes over the industry verticals that have emerging applications using natural language processing. These include healthcare, law, oil and gas, supply chain, telecommunication, automotive, serious games, and education and research. While we see the adoption of natural language processing already in these industry verticals, they are expected to increasingly leverage language data over the next decade for various applications. The chapter discusses data generated by each vertical and the applications currently in use, along with actively researched applications. Examples include writing assessments in serious games, search support for legal documents, lubricant-related question-answering in oil and gas, and understanding voice commands in automotive.
