ABSTRACT
This chapter looks at the current state of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how it is embedded in every facet of society and explores both business and government perspectives. For government and defence the focus is on cyberwarfare, AI weapons and the AI arms race. It then details the current global situation, with US, Europe, Russia and China and potential future scenarios. The current state of AI in business is explored with a focus on technology, financial services and healthcare companies. Criminal gangs and terrorism are also considered. The chapter considers historical perspectives and the likely jobs that will be lost because of AI. These jobs will include both professional roles and positions with repetitive tasks such as call centres. There is a reflection on the implication of mass job changes.
