ABSTRACT
Throughout the discussion in the previous chapters, it is clear that traditional road design standards should be revisited. It makes a big difference when pavement engineers think more imaginatively about future smart roads, rather than being content with current design regulations.
This concluding chapter provides a summary of the mega trends that affect the structural design of smart roads and the suggested solutions and technologies required to handle future challenges represented by urbanization, digitalization, electrification and climate change.
