ABSTRACT
The previous chapters dealt with the response of linear mass-spring oscillators. The following chapters deal with nonlinear response and projection from the single-mass oscillator [the single degree of freedom (SDOF) system] to building structures. The reader shall see that the “metaphor” of the linear SDOF is a useful tool to organize the available information, compare alternatives for structural configurations, and proportion new structures.
