ABSTRACT

Steam generator thermal hydraulics assumes special importance due to the presence of single-phase liquid, two-phase, and superheated steam flow on the tube side. Both drum and once through–type steam generators are used. This chapter describes the heat transfer phenomena in the different stages as water gets converted into steam across the height of the steam generator. The heat transfer and pressure drop correlations for different configurations of tubes are presented. The thermal model is presented in detail and some validation based on available data is provided.
