ABSTRACT

This chapter begins with a discussion of health supply chains, including metrics and structure. This chapter also includes models for facility location in healthcare, both for emergency center facilities and non-emergency facilities. This includes a discussion of unique constraints including willingness to travel, equity, and choice. The topic capacity planning and management is next discussed including the topics of capacity planning forecasting, health resource management for shared resources and for staffing, and surge planning. The health section concludes with a discussion of telehealth and connected care. The section on humanitarian and disaster relief supply chains discusses humanitarian logistics, supply networks, and last-mile delivery issues. Two detailed case studies are also included along with extended group exercises.
