ABSTRACT
Standards are documents setting out methods and procedures which may be followed by businesses, if these methods and procedures are followed that business, such as an engineering company, may be accredited by the standards organisation. The internationally recognised organisation is the International Standards Organisation, known by the abbreviation ISO. There are variations of these standards used in other countries for similar purposes and accredited by the standards organisation of that country. The use of these standards will be shown by the business using them on their documents and website. This is to show customers, and other organisations, that the procedures are being followed to ensure that the items produced are what they say they are. In other words, guaranteeing quality.
