ABSTRACT
This chapter delves into long-term stability of equilibrium solutions for two-dimensional linear systems of differential equations through visualization of the phase plane and the determination of straight-line solutions for a linear system of equations. Stability of an equilibrium solution is determined through visual inspection of the phase plane. Understanding the stability of an equilibrium solution for linear systems of differential equations is foundational to understand the qualitative behavior of nonlinear systems of differential equations.
