ABSTRACT
Differential equations can be solved with exact solution techniques such as separation of variables, integrating factors, and direct verification. This chapter emphasizes direct solution techniques through several key examples used in modeling (e.g. exponential growth and saturation equations) and their application to solving initial value problems. These different approaches complement qualitative techniques to understanding solutions to a differential equation.
