ABSTRACT
Ships, by necessity and design, carry a vast selection of navigational equipment and systems. Some of this equipment, such as the sextant, are almost as old as seafaring itself; others are a truly modern invention. In this chapter, we will briefly look at the role and function of some of the main navigational equipment and systems used by contemporary ship navigators.
