ABSTRACT

The moving object monitoring technology is used in a number of applications to make the system more automated and reduce human intervention. The integrated system provides an acceptable accuracy with high dynamic information during GPS availability. However, system accuracy degrades in the tunnel with the absence of GPS, when the tracking solution is taken from a standalone system. To obtain the tracking information accurately in tunnel, it is better to integrate two or more systems. The satellite-based tracking real-time applications for train monitoring exist everywhere. The chapter presents additional information on tracking surveillance algorithm and relevant software simulation used for implementation. We also briefly discussed advantages of using the Discrete Kalman Filter in solving real-world problems and WSN-RFID-based train monitoring system. Finally, the chapter also presents a sensor model matching control system, tracking controller design, followed by quadratic optimal controller design based on Liapunov approach.
