ABSTRACT

CODA provides a template for thinking about and identifying some, but it will take skill, knowledge, and experience to fully understand how these environs challenge safety in any given organization. The flow of material in, and product out, of the building is the organization's operational aspect. If the operation grows or changes so the “building” must be adapted to suit. Otherwise it could result in a mountain of raw goods in the car park, or the machinery might be making millions of the wrong type of product. Another important aspect—perhaps the most important—is the maintenance of all the information people have gathered using CODA. Financial strain on an organization might result in less maintenance being carried out; cheaper raw material being bought that doesn't have the same storage requirements; or cheaper and less effective personal protective equipment being procured.
