ABSTRACT
There are lots of hardware devices which can be used in the context of promoting the ideas of green communication (G Comm.), but this chapter highlights the concepts of field programmable gate array (FPGA) hardware device, which plays a major role in promoting the ideas of GC. FPGA has several advantages over the other hardware devices. Therefore, it is used prominently in making power-efficient designs. This chapter discusses about the history of FPGA, FPGA architecture, and building blocks related to FPGA. Apart from these topics, this chapter also discusses the various programming concepts used to program the FPGA device. This chapter also highlights the differences between FPGA and other hardware devices available in the market. At last, this chapter discusses about the FPGA vendors and the FPGA market across the globe.
