ABSTRACT

This chapter highlights concrete points that deserve more emphasis on analytics projects and focuses on the agile and waterfall approaches. A data analytics project improves decision-making by bringing or creating insight from data. The increments in an analytics project should be defined around the additional insight that the project could generate. A typical data analytics project leverages IT platforms to create data solutions. A typical data analytics project requires specific knowledge, data-oriented thinking, and effective client communication skills. Analytical work needs to be monitored and evaluated for changes that might be necessary. The role performing the required changes is traditionally not present in platform support teams; hence, analytics teams need to help maintain the code or configurations. Parts of the analytics project are usually delivered in the “experimental” way of working.
