ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we briefly touch on a tool called life cycle analysis (LCA) and discuss its usefulness. Motivation is given for extending this analysis to include exergy depletion, exergetic life cycle analysis (ELCA). An example is given of the so-called zero-emission ELCA, in which the analysis further includes the exergetic cost of making a product “environmentally friendly.”
