Low Carbon

Current world consumption of energy is approximately 450 ExaJoules [6], of which the bulk (>75%) comes from fossil energy sources [1]. The associated CO₂ emissions are approximately 40 Gt. Clearly, these energy sources do not replenish at timescales relevant to the usage timescale, and contribute to the emissions of CO₂. Clearly, solutions which reduce the carbon footprint for energy generation must be explored in an effort to be either carbon neutral or negative.
