ABSTRACT
This chapter describes the technique of intravascular ultrasound, in which direct imaging of the coronary arteries is performed using a miniature ultrasound probe that can be passed down the coronary arteries via a catheter. The technique of epicardial echo, which involves placing an echo probe directly on the surface of the heart while the heart is exposed during a sternotomy, is also discussed.
