ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at service provision in terms of the departmental and staffing issues involved and also examines the question of quality control, in the context of the standards set out by the British Society of Echocardiography. Quality assurance indicators covered include training, accreditation and workforce requirements. How to structure a quality assurance programme is also discussed in relation to assuring echo quality, reproducibility and consistency, education and training, and customer and staff satisfaction. The chapter also includes suggestions for audit topics.
