ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the research background, motivations of this book are introduced, and some recent advances on the control and state estimation/filtering with complex sampling are surveyed. Firstly, the principle of signal sampling is illustrated, and the general architecture of a sampled-data control system is given. Then, the development of sampling is discussed in terms of two points of view, i.e., the passive sampling and the active sampling. Subsequently, some latest results on the control and state estimation/filtering problems with complex sampling including nonuniform sampling, stochastic sampling, event-triggered sampling and dynamic event-triggered sampling are reviewed in detail. The dynamical network systems involved cover the general networked control systems, sensor networks, complex networks and neural networks. Finally, the outline of this book is given.
