ABSTRACT
This is the introduction to Part 2. It explains the scope of the part, covers the history of solvent extraction of vegetable oil, and outlines the present-day practice. The peek into historical progress path may help readers develop appreciation of reasons for changes, and may sometimes help find new methods to overcome present day challenges. The modern process flow and main sections of the solvent extraction plant are described, along with a typical layout of plant buildings, showing the ‘safe’ zone around the solvent extraction building.
