ABSTRACT

Bagging and storage of de-oiled meal is a major, and labour-intensive, activity in an oilseed crushing plant. The machinery for bagging, conveying and bag-stacking is discussed, along with a typical layout of a meal warehouse. For the soybean crushing facility, a few machines are required upstream of bagging, namely, lumps separator and lumps breaker; these are discussed in some detail. The bagging house can be a dusty place, posing a health hazard to workmen. Proper precautions in operation and adequate dust aspiration can help mitigate the hazard.
