ABSTRACT

Oil filtration is an important section of an oil mill. It not only requires a separate operator, and maybe an assistant, but also has direct impact on the quality of press oil. A good pre-filtration step is necessary, to help reduce the load on main filters, as also to ensure the proper oil quality. Various options for pre-filtration, as also the main filtration, are discussed, with their respective pros and cons. Construction features and sizing methods for various equipment are discussed, and so are operation precautions and controls. Oil cooling and storage requirements are outlined, with reference to the optional oil drying process.
