ABSTRACT
This chapter covers the fundamentals of engineering materials, which is a prerequisite and requirement for understanding the concept of stress analysis. Stress and strain are defined. True stress vs. engineering stress is elaborated. Stress-strain curves are defined. Stress concentration is illustrated. Typical material property tables for metallic and composite material are shown.
