ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book provides a brief outline of the Strategic Information Technology (IT) Governance 2.0 Framework with a brief explanation. It also provides an overview of the changing competitive landscape and why companies are revisiting their business strategies and leveraging technologies in new and innovative ways, driving the need to improve the maturity of their IT governance competencies for both transformational and tactical projects. The book contains 11 case studies of companies in different industries who have improved the maturity of their governance competencies to achieve their goal of improving business outcomes, increasing revenue, and enhancing shareholder wealth. It then provides an assessment process to determine the maturity of the governance process and a framework for implementing the maturity plan using a case study of a midsized manufacturing company.
